PayPal Inc. said Tuesday that it had received a People’s Voice Award for best financial services Web site from the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences.
The academy also presents the Webby Awards. The People’s Voice is a separate prize presented by the academy but voted on by average Web surfers. The list of nominees for both awards was the same.
The 2005 Webby in PayPal’s category went to Time Inc.’s Fortune.com. The other nominees were Chase Credit Card Services (from JPMorgan Chase & Co.), E-Trade Financial Corp., and Powszechny Dom Kredytowy, a Polish car loan company.
PayPal is the person-to-person payments unit of eBay Inc.
“We are especially thrilled to win the People’s Voice Award, since we were chosen by the most important judges — the people that use PayPal every day,” said Dana Stalder, vice president of marketing and business operations for PayPal. The company will receive the award at the Webby event in New York on June 6.
