MONTVALE, N.J. - Western Union Financial Services Inc., a subsidiary of First Data Corp., has introduced its Western Union Money Transfer service in Yugoslavia.
The service, announced last week, is now available in 30 locations in several cities. By yearend Western Union will have 300 agent locations in Serbia and Montenegro equipped to initiate and receive money transfers. The transfers may be made in dinars, German marks, or U.S. dollars.
Under a three-year contract, Western Union will provide money transfer services through its agent, EKI Transfer, and through several Yugoslavian banks that will act as EKI Transfer subagents, including Jugobanka, Bojvodjanska, and Atlas Bank.
Father Djokan Majstorovic, the dean of Saint Sava's Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Manhattan, said the service would help Serbians living and working outside of Yugoslavia who "are looking for ways to improve the lives of their friends and relatives in need and to help rebuild our country."
