Wisconsin is changing its name to Community Bankers of Wisconsin. The organization says the aim is to emphasize "community banker." "Large banks are attempting to emulate community banks in their advertising," said president Gary R. Weirauch in a letter to members. "We must educate the general public as to who the real community banks are." In addition, the definition of "independent" has become blurred, he said, because more holding companies own multiple banks.
