In Brief: Wisconsin Group Seeks Charter for Start-Up

A group of Delafield, Wis., businessmen have applied for a new bank charter for their community.

The six investors, who include Jon Bruss, chief financial officer of Fortress Bancshares, Hartland, Wis., plan to open Delafield State Bank in mid-1998. A new holding company, Town Bancshares, would own Delafield State Bank.

Mr. Bruss, who would be president of Delafield State Bank, said the investors believe a start-up bank would be successful in Delafield because there are no other community banks headquartered there. "There is an opportunity to create a bank with a renewed focus on the importance of the customer," he said.

Fortress Bancshares, a three-bank holding company, does not own any branches in the Delafield market.
