The Dallas communication technology company Intervoice Inc. has agreed to integrate biometric voice authentication technology from EMC Corp.'s RSA Security into its voice response products.
The deal, announced Wednesday, would combine Intervoice's Voice Portal with RSA Adaptive Authentication for Phone, which is based on the voice biometrics technology RSA Security inherited in the 2006 acquisition of PassMark Security Inc.
The RSA product allows for biometric voice samples to be used in combination with other forms of authentication, such as one-time passwords, for phone transactions deemed to be risky or potenially fraudulent.
Intervoice said the deal is important to maintain consumers' trust in remote banking.
"As more customers continue to mobilize their lives, which include banking online and via phone, it's imperative that they are confident that their transactions are secure," Ken Goldberg, Intervoice's senior vice president of corporate development and strategy, said in a press release.
RSA's product will be integrated into Intervoice products that use a runtime-service-orchestration engine based on state chart extensible markup language, or SCXML. Intervoice announced Tuesday that its newest products will use SCXML to allow the straightforward integration of complex software and services.
Invervoice's IVR offerings also include the Edify platform, which it bought last year from S1 Corp.
