J.C. Bradford hires Grimes.

Don W. Grimes, previously senior vice president of public finance and director at First Southwest Co. in Dallas, has joined Nashvill-based J.C. Bradford & Co. as a vice president of public finance.

"I have been doing a lot of work in Tennessee and have developed some good relationships here, so I thought it was time to make a change," Mr. Grimes said yesterda. He said that his duties at J.C. Bradford would include investment banking and financial advisory work, which had been his focus while at First Southwest.

Mr. Grimes joined First Southwest in 1981, following a 10-year stint as a vice president in the municipal bond department of Powell & Satterfield in Little Rock, Ark.

Mr. Grimes said he would not continue financial advisory work for the Texas issuers he had served while at First Southwest.

"I didn't come to help them get into the Texas municipal bond business," he said. "I will concentrate my work in the Southeast." However, Mr. Grimes said he would continue to work with some municipalities in Alaska, including the cities of Seward and Palmer.

While at First Southwest, Mr. Grimes was financial adviser to the Texas Turnpike Authority, the Texas Housing Agency, the Dallas County Utility and Reclamation District, and the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority.

"Don has a vast amount of experience in the municipal bond business, and we're delighted to have him join our firm," said Ronnie Scott, partner in charge of J.C. Bradford's municipal bond department.

Mr. Grimes is a former member of the National Association of Securities Dealers' Arbitration Committee.
