John Hancock Financial Services Inc. announced that it has opened the John Hancock Global Opportunities Fund to retail investors.

The fund, which was launched February 2005, was available only to institutional investors before Monday. It is subadvised by MFC Global Investment Management LLC, an institutional asset unit of John Hancock's parent, Manulife Financial Corp. of Toronto.

John Hancock Funds, the Boston fund unit of John Hancock Financial Services, had more than $56 billion in open-end funds, closed-end funds, private accounts, retirement plans, and related-party assets for individual and institutional investors as of March 31.
