John S. Lewis At the Helm of First Interstate's Southwest Region

John S. Lewis has taken over as chairman and chief executive officer for the Southwest region of First Interstate Bancorp, Los Angeles.

Mr. Lewis will be responsible for the company's banks in Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and Wyoming, overseeing the daily activities of seven banks.

He succeeds William S. Randall, who recently became chief operating officer of First Interstate Bancorp.

Mr. Lewis was executive vice president of the administration group, with responsibility for legal, compliance, human resources, corporate properties, marketing, communications, training, and support services. He also managed trust and private banking and central consumer loan products.

He has worked for the First Interstate system since 1974.
