HONG KONG - JPMorgan Chase's (JPM) chairman and chief executive officer for the Asia Pacific region, Gaby Abdelnour, is leaving the bank, according to an internal memo seen by the Wall Street Journal.

Abdelnour has led the bank in Asia Pacific since July 2006. He joined JPMorgan Chase in 1998.

The memo said that Abdelnour will leave the bank this summer to pursue personal interests.

During his tenure in Asia, JPMorgan Chase's business in the region has doubled in size and its net earnings have tripled, the memo said.

Abdelnour has served as a member of JPMorgan Chase's executive committee and the investment bank operating committee.
