Korsmo to Head ALTA as Pfotenhauer Joins Title Insurer

Michelle Korsmo will become the new chief executive of the American Land Title Association, replacing Kurt Pfotenhauer, who is leaving at the end of the month to become executive vice president and vice chairman of First American Title Insurance Co.

Most recently, Korsmo was chief operating officer of ALTA; she started working for the trade group in 2008 as senior vice president, marketing and member programs.

Before that, she was executive vice president of the Americans for Prosperity Foundation. Korsmo also served three years as deputy chief of staff to U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao (during the George W. Bush administration) where she managed non-political agency heads, served as a member of the budget committee, exercised approval authority on all departmental action to be published in the Federal Register, and developed an outreach program to the non-profit community.
