Lakeside Bank In Chicago Elects Raymond Spaeth 2d Its Second President

Raymond J. Spaeth 2d, a longtime member of the senior management team at Lakeside Bank, Chicago, was elected president, replacing John R. Montgomery 3d, president of the bank since its founding in 1966.

Mr. Spaeth has worked for Lakeside since its founding and was executive vice president and chief lending officer before his promotion. His father, the late Raymond Spaeth Sr., was a founder of the bank and its vice chairman.

Mr. Montgomery will devote more time to the bank's rapidly growing financial services division, which he has been developing for several years, said Victor J. Cacciatore, chairman and chief executive officer.

In addition, Mr. Cacciatore said, Lakeside Bank has opened a Near South Side branch to replace a building condemned for the McCormick Place expansion. Ana Benitez is branch manager.

Mr. Spaeth and Mr. Montgomery remain on the bank's board of directors.

Mr. Spaeth played a key role in assembling 100-plus investors to buy the bank's outstanding shares from R.R. Donnelley & Sons Co. in September 1993. The majority were customers and friends of the bank, making it a community- owned and oriented bank.
