Lincoln Financial Distributors, the wholesaling arm of Lincoln Financial Group, said Tuesday that it had launched a customer relationship management application for use on its wholesalers' BlackBerry devices and a Web portal.
The Philadelphia insurance company unit said its wholesalers are most effective when dealing with their financial adviser clients in person. Spending time at their desks inputting the data needed to manage these client relationships diminished their time in the field, the company said, but the new technology will let them do desk work from the field.
The customer relationship management application was developed by Sybase iAnywhere for use on the BlackBerry. It enhances a similar application that Lincoln adopted 18 months ago, also in partnership with iAnywhere for Pocket PC-based personal digital assistant devices.
The Web-based portal, called "LFD Anywhere," gives a wholesaler complete access to key Lincoln applications from anywhere in the world using an Internet connection and a computer.
Lincoln Financial Group is the marketing name for Lincoln National Corp. and its affiliates. The company had consolidated assets of $125 billion at Dec. 31 and consolidated revenues last year of $5.5 billion.
