The loyalty rewards companies Cartera Commerce Inc. and Vesdia Corp. announced a merger agreement Thursday.
The combined company would reach more than 150 million consumers and count as clients four of the top five U.S. card issuers and three of the four largest U.S. airlines, the companies said.
Financial terms of the merger were not disclosed.
"There is unprecedented market demand for multichannel merchant networks, performance advertising and transaction marketing solutions, especially given the impact of the Durbin Amendment on debit card interchange fees," Tom Beecher, the president and chief executive of Cartera, said in the release.
The combined company will retain the Cartera name, be headquartered in Lexington, Mass., with some operations in Atlanta.
