Manulife Closes Deal for Berkshire-TWC

Manulife Financial Corp. of Toronto said it has completed its acquisition of Berkshire-TWC Financial Group Inc.

The acquisition, completed last week, added more than 700 advisers and 237 branches from Berkshire's mutual fund and securities business to Manulife's operations in Canada.

As a result of the Berkshire acquisition, Manulife Securities has a sales force of 1,500 independent advisers and a business with about $19 billion in assets under administration.

Manulife serves millions of customers in 19 countries. It uses the Manulife Financial brand in Canada and Asia and under the John Hancock brand in the United States.

As of June 30, Manulife had $386 billion of assets under management.
