HarborOne Credit Union is using software from Datacard Group to instantly issue Visa Inc.-branded debit cards in branches, the Minnetonka, Minn., vendor said Tuesday.
The $1.8 billion-asset credit union is using the CardWizard program in all 15 of its U.S. branches in New England, Datacard said, in an effort to boost card use and activation rates.
"There are many benefits to offering instantly issued debit cards to our members," said Wayne Dunn, a senior vice president and chief technology officer at the Brockton, Mass., credit union. "First and foremost, the security and convenience of hand-delivering the card in the branch differentiates us and gives us a competitive advantage in the marketplace."
CardWizard can "interface" with HarborOne's core banking system, which allows for simpler installation, Datacard said.
The credit union is using a card printer from Datacard to produce cards.
Instant card issuance is part of Datacard's suite of hardware, software and consultation services known as Secure Issuance Anywhere. The programs can include PIN selection and change, embossed or unembossed cards and mobile and contactless payments.
