MasterCard Promotes Ed McLaughlin to CIO

MasterCard has made a series of changes to its executive slate, including the appointment of a chief information officer.

Ed McLaughlin will begin serving in the newly created role of chief information officer in 2016. In this role, he will handle software development and integration. Previously, McLaughlin served as the company's chief emerging payments officer, overseeing the development and launch of the company's digital platforms, including MasterPass and P2P payments.

Before joining MasterCard in 2005 as head of bill payments and health care, McLaughlin led product and strategy at Metavante and was a co-founder of online payments company Paytrust.

Additionally, the Purchase, N.Y.-based card network announced that chief innovation officer Garry Lyons will lead the Digital Payments and MasterCard Labs organizations. Lyons helped to create MasterCard Labs in 2010.

The company's chief marketing officer Raja Rajamannar will be in charge of communications. Under him, the company promoted Chris Monteiro to chief communications and digital marketing officer. Together, they will oversee the company's marketing and internal and external communications activities.
