Four new merchants have agreed to participate in MasterCard Inc.'s Easy Savings program, offering rebates to participating business customers who use the Purchase, N.Y., payments company's credit, debit or prepaid cards.
MasterCard said Tuesday that 24 merchant partners now offer rebates on a variety of business products and services. The new participants are Continental Airlines Inc., Budget Truck Rental LLC, Harry & David Holdings Inc. and the online marketing consulting company Vertical Response Inc. Rebates range from 5% to 20%.
"The program provides merchants and financial institutions with new ways to attract new customers, build loyalty and generate revenue," Eugene DeSilva, MasterCard's vice president for small business, said in a press release.
Visa Inc. introduced in 2008 a similar program, SavingsEdge. It said this month that it had signed five new participating merchants. It now has 12 participants. SavingsEdge offers savings of 5% to 15%. The rebates appear on users' monthly statements.
