Merrill Lynch unit moving to Florida.

NEW YORK - Merrill Lynch & Co. will be moving the back-office operations of its mutual-fund group from Somerset, N.J., to Jacksonville, Fla., during the summer.

The securities firm's insurance operations and Merrill Lynch Credit Corp. are already in Jacksonville. The number of people hired and transferred will total 600 at most, and there will be not net addition to the work force, said a spokesman, James Wiggins.

The company recently completed a $30 million facility for the mutual fund operations.
