Merrill Lynch & Co. Inc. promoted Albert Lee to chief executive officer and chairman of its Taiwan operation.

Mr. Lee had been division director of Merrill's global private client group, which serves its wealthiest customers, since May 2002.
Since joining Merrill in 1990, he has worked as the general manager of its Taiwan private client group and as its Taiwan market manager.
Merrill said Tuesday that he will work with the unit's business heads to "maximise all revenue and strategic growth opportunities in Taiwan."
