MetricStream Upgrades Platform with Capability to Analyze Big Data

MetricStream, a maker of software for measuring, monitoring and managing risk, has augmented the capabilities of its platform.

The Palo Alto, Calif.-based company said Thursday it has upgraded its platform to accommodate both Hadoop, an open-source initiative that develops software for processing large sets of data, and MongoDB, an open-source, high-performance database.

According to MetricStream, the additions give users of the company's software new ways to sift and assess data from transactions, trades, social media, blogs, email and other sources.

Users can tap the data to manage risk, promote compliance and bolster reporting in ways that were not previously possible, the company said.

"MetricStream is committed to helping solve the big data problem through our robust GRC platform, which provides organizations with the risk intelligence needed to drive decision making and business performance," Vidya Phalke, MetricStream's chief technology officer, said in a news release.
