NCR, Cima Have Licensing Agreement

NCR Corp. has licensed branch optimization technology from the Italian vendor Cima SpA.

The Dayton, Ohio, automated teller machine company announced the multiyear agreement Tuesday but did not provide a price.

NCR plans to use Cima's Teller Assist Cash Recycler system as part of its efforts to expand its branch automation offerings. The system authenticates, counts, stores, and recycles currency deposited at the teller window.

Some notes are counted by hand as often as six times as it moves from the vault to the teller window, and the Cash Recycler system can significantly reduce the amount of time tellers spend doing so, NCR said.

Vittorio Razzaboni, a Cima managing director, said that the deal would "bring this solution to a wider audience."
