The Duluth, Ga., ATM and kiosk maker, which rolled out the product in 2008, said that in 2010 it sold twice as many SelfServ machines as in the product's first two years combined.

As retail banks operate with fewer branches, they have made intelligent-deposit ATMs, which can accept deposits without envelopes, a focus, NCR said.

"Forward-thinking financial institutions consistently turn to NCR for solutions that will differentiate them from the competition by giving consumers higher levels of convenience and more self-service transaction options," Michael O'Laughlin, vice president and general manager for NCR's financial services business, said in a press release.

The ATMs also feature technology that allows each machine to recover automatically without the need for service and dual-roll receipt printers to help prevent the machines from running out of paper. The machines also can be upgraded to add a cash-recycling feature so that they can dispense the same bills they receive as deposits.
