The University of Dayton bought the former Ohio headquarters of automated teller machine maker NCR Corp. for $18 million.

NCR moved its headquarters to Duluth, Ga., in June but still operates a data center near the Dayton site.

The move let NCR take its ATM manufacturing back in-house and bring certain operations closer together to shorten the time it takes to bring a product to market, NCR said.

The university said it plans to use the old NCR property, which it described as one of the area's largest office buildings, for an alumni center, graduate classrooms and conferences.
