The Duluth, Ga., ATM and kiosk maker's revenue rose 6%, to $1.1 billion. Its loss last year was because of lower demand for automated teller machines in the U.S., Caribbean and Latin America.

This year, "our core industries generated solid order and revenue growth driven by our global market leadership in the financial services segment, strong demand for our retail self-checkout solutions and growth in services," Bill Nuti, NCR's chairman and chief executive, said in a press release Thursday. Nuti also credited its emerging industries and entertainment business lines.
