The total number of new bank-issued credit cards in Q1 is 11.3 million, a six-year high and an increase of 17.2% from the year-ago period, according to the latest Equifax National Consumer Credit Trends Report.

Totall new credit originated in that same period is $57.1 billion, also a six-year high and an increase of 24.4% from Q1 2013. Accounts 60-or-more-days past due (excluding write-offs) as a percentage of total loans is 0.99%, a year-over-year decrease of 9.5% and the lowest since 2005.
