Charles Taylor directed Pew's Financial Reform Project, formed in response to the financial crisis to explore approaches to reforming the financial sector.

As deputy comptroller for capital and regulatory policy, Taylor will oversee the formation of OCC policy on bank capital issues, including developing regulations to implement revisions to the Basel Capital Accord, the agency said.

"Charles brings deep international experience, skills, and insight to this important position," David Wilson, the senior deputy comptroller for bank supervision policy and chief national bank examiner, said in a press release.

Taylor has also held leadership roles at the Risk Management Association, Depository Trust and Clearing Corp., Andersen Consulting and the Group of Thirty.
