Count us among those who accept the adage that banking remains, in many ways, a local business. Our belief in this idea inspired us to create a series of state- and region-focused news services, beginning with American Banker Texas.
We’re proud to introduce the service to you today, to invite you to try it out and let us know what you think.
So what, and who, is American Banker Texas?
AB Texas is an online-only, subscription-only news service updated every business day and catering to the information and business-practice needs of financial professionals operating in Texas. Its centerpiece is original local reporting by American Banker’s nationally recognized staff of journalists and editors, including especially our community banking team, led by its editor, Alan Kline.
An important new addition to the team is our Austin-based reporter, Marissa Fajt, who has spent the past several weeks getting to know her new beat, meeting with and interviewing bankers and other industry professionals in the Lone Star State.
Also key to the AB Texas operation is deputy editor Katherine Kane, who among other things is responsible for filtering and publishing news from a wide range of primary and secondary information sources -- including feature stories from the national edition of American Banker; news articles from SourceMedia sister publications; wire-service news from Dow Jones and PR Newswire; and announcements and reports from regulatory agencies, industry associations, and others.
We also plan to keep a close eye on the banking coverage generated by the many high-quality general-interest newspapers and business journals published in and for Texans, providing AB Texas readers with a daily roster of relevant article links and summaries.
Add to all of this a top-tier group of commercial and editorial partners -- providers of analytics, services, data, and the like -- and our goal becomes clear: a rich and deep professional community of interest built around American Banker’s brand of independent and authoritative journalism.
American Banker is an independent news organization. Its daily print edition was first published in 1836, and its online service (www.americanbanker.com) debuted in 1996. The launch of American Banker Texas represents an important step in our continuing effort to build on this legacy.
Again, welcome to American Banker Texas, and please don’t hesitate to be in touch.
