New York Life Appoints Chief Actuary

New York Life Insurance Co. announced Tuesday that it has promoted Gary Scofield to senior vice president and chief actuary.

Mr. Scofield now directs the office of the chief actuary and companywide actuarial activities, including certifying company reserves, establishing capital requirements, and overseeing product pricing.

Before joining the office of the chief actuary at New York Life last year, Mr. Scofield was a vice president and an actuary in its individual life department, where he was in charge of pricing.

Before joining the company he had held officer-level pricing, marketing, and financial positions with several life insurance and reinsurance companies.
