New York Life Names Administrative Chief

New York Life Insurance Co. promoted Frank Boccio to executive vice president and chief administrative officer.

Mr. Boccio reports to Ted Mathas, the insurer's president and chief operating officer, and is responsible for individual policy services, corporate information, corporate services, corporate Internet, and business resiliency, the company said Wednesday.

He has worked in underwriting, claims, customer service, systems, administration, and human resources since joining New York Life in 1974. He was promoted to manager of administrative services in 1980 and assistant vice president in 1984.

In 1994, Mr. Boccio was the interim head of operations for New York Life's AARP Life Insurance Program.

In 1995, he was the interim head of human resources for NYLCare Health Plans Inc., which was formed by the merger of New York Life's group operations and Sanus. Also that year, he became a senior vice president in charge of individual policy services.

In 1998, Mr. Boccio was elected chairman of the management advisory council. Two years later he was appointed to the executive management committee. In 2002 he was named chief administrative officer of life and annuity.
