New York Life Insurance Co. has announced the promotions of Sara Badler to senior vice president and deputy general counsel and Richard Taigue to first vice president and deputy general counsel.
Ms. Badler manages the unit within the office of general counsel that advises the life insurance, annuity, long-term-care, and group operations; the agency department; and the retail broker-dealer unit, the company said on Tuesday. She is also responsible for the unit that gives legal support to the chief investment officer and on merger and acquisition issues.
She rejoined New York Life in 2004 as a vice president and associate general counsel. In 2006 she was promoted to first vice president and deputy general counsel. Before that she worked at Morgan Stanley, where she was an executive director responsible for all legal work associated with U.S. equity mutual funds.
Mr. Taigue manages subsidiary corporate governance and oversight of the subsidiaries' legal operations. He is also responsible for intellectual property, commercial contract, and legal risk assessment units.
He joined the company as assistant general counsel in 1990, was promoted to associate general counsel in 1992, elected vice president and associate general counsel in 1995, and became a deputy general counsel in 2004.
In addition, Karen Lamp was promoted to vice president and associate general counsel. Ms. Lamp joined the company in 1991 as assistant general counsel.
