North Dakota bank taps insider as its next leader

Gate City Bank in Fargo, N.D., has its next leader lined up.

The $2.2 billion-asset bank said in a press release Tuesday that Kevin Hanson will succeed Steve Swiontek as president and CEO on July 1.

Swiontek will remain executive chairman, overseeing strategic investments in philanthropy, until he retires next year.

Hanson is the bank’s chief operating officer. He joined the bank 36 years ago as a management trainee. He has also served as a loan officer and director of lending.

“The bank’s mission and culture is centered on positively impacting our customers, communities, and team members," Hanson said in the release. "I look forward to continuing and deepening that commitment for years to come."

Gate City has 38 branches in North Dakota and Minnesota.
