Northrim BanCorp in Anchorage, Alaska, will give its chief executive the additional title of chairman, as its current chairman to plans to retire at year end.

The $1.5 billion-asset Northrim said Joseph Beedle will succeed Marc Langland as chairman of both the holding company and Northrim Bank, as of Jan. 1. Beedle is currently president and CEO of both the holding company and bank.

At the same time, Joseph Schierhorn, chief operating officer of the holding company and bank, and president of the bank, will be given the additional title of CEO of Northrim Bank. Additionally, Schierhorn will replace Langland on the boards of both the holding company and bank.

Langland, who was 73 on Apr. 16, founded Northrim Bank in 1990 and has been its chairman and CEO since 1998. Previously, Langland was chairman and CEO of KeyBank in Alaska. He was also CEO of First National Bank of Fairbanks from 1977 to 1985.

Beedle, who was 63 on Apr. 16, joined Northrim in 2006 and has been the bank's CEO since 2011 and the holding company's president and CEO since January.

Schierhorn, 57, has worked at Northrim since 1990, when he joined as commercial loan officer. In addition to president and COO, Schierhorn has also been chief financial officer of the holding company and bank.
