Online names Greenpoint chief, ex-P&G exec to board.

Online Resources and Communications Corp. has elected Thomas S. Johnson and Edwin H. Shutt Jr. to its board of directors.

Mr. Johnson is the former president of both Chemical Banking Corp. and Manufacturers Hanover Corp.

He is currently chief executive officer of GP Financial Corp., a New York City-based bank holding company.

He is also chairman, chief executive officer, and president of GP Financial's Green Point Savings Bank.

Mr. Johnson holds a bachelor's degree from Trinity College and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Consumer Product Career

Mr. Shutt was the head of international business at Procter & Gamble.

He served as chief executive officer of both Clorox Co. and Tambrands Inc., two large consumer product companies.

He has a bachelor's degree from Princeton University.

Matt Lawlor, Online's chairman and president, said the addition of Mr. Johnson to the board would further advance Online's ties to the banking industry.

"Tom has been in banking for a long time at two major institutions. His perspective is invaluable," Mr. Lawlor said.

He added that Mr. Shutt's consumer marketing expertise would be used "to boost our consumer marketing support to banks selling Online services."

Mr. Shutt "will help us think through our strategy," Mr. Lawlor said.

Online, which was founded in 1989, offers screen-based telephone banking products, including phones, bill-paying services, transaction processing services, and communications services.

The company markets nationwide.
