While the media and public at large have been hanging on every word from Federal Reserve Board Chairman Ben Bernanke lately, the remarks that drew the most attention last week didn't involve the economy or QE3.
Instead, Bernanke was asked to rate Paul Giamatti's portrayal of him in the HBO movie "Too Big to Fail," along with other principals.
But Bernanke didn't want to turn into a critic.
"I didn't see that movie," he said. "I saw the original."
But Bernanke did say he admired Giamatti.
"Paul Giamatti is an excellent actor," Bernanke said. "And, in fact, I met him. He asked to come meet with me, so I had him over for lunch at the Federal Reserve. And — and the first thing I found out about him was that his father was the commissioner of baseball, Bart Giamatti. So what do you think we talked about for the whole lunch?"
