Planet Payment Inc., a processor of electronic transactions, said Friday that it has signed an agreement with Global Payments Inc., a Long Beach, N.Y., processor, to offer a service that allows merchants to accept payments in multiple currencies.
Global Payments said it plans to launch the Pay in Your Currency service in Malaysia and Taiwan by yearend.
Offering the Pay in Your Currency service in Taiwan is subject to regulatory approvals, the Atlanta company said.
Philip Beck, Planet Payment's chairman and chief executive, said in a press release from Global that the service allows merchants to "market and sell more effectively, while providing their customers with the information to make better and more informed buying decisions."
Global Payments said it operates in 10 countries and territories in the Asia-Pacific region through its joint venture with HSBC Holdings PLC.
