Verizon Wireless customers can now pay their bills and buy more calling time at CheckFree Corp.'s walk-in bill-pay locations.
CheckFree, of Atlanta, announced the agreement Wednesday. It converts customers' cash payments into electronic transactions that are credited to their accounts immediately.
Paul D'Auria, the executive director and treasurer of Verizon Wireless, said in a CheckFree press release that customers can use the service to "pay their bills right up to the due date, or replenish their wireless minutes while on the go."
Verizon Wireless, of Basking Ridge, N.J., is a joint venture of Verizon Communications Inc. and Vodafone Group PLC.
CheckFree also said Wednesday that its Carreker Corp. subsidiary had joined the Easy License Ranger reseller program from Silver Bullet Technology Inc., which allows Carreker's payments software to be installed in check scanners from several vendors.
