PayitGreen Aims to Lure People IN

Paperless billing advocate PayitGreen, whose members include Wells Fargo, U.S. Bank and J.P. Morgan, is embarking on a new membership program, and has added more interactivity to its Website.

The Website will now include free information for consumers, as well as statistics and calculators that focus on the benefits of using electronic payments, statements and bills. The calculators, for example, allow users to determine their financial paper footprints by tabulating how many paper statements they receive and how many paper-based payments are made each month.

The NACHA-managed group's site will also include green tips for consumers and regularly updated environmental news. Members also have access to case studies and marketing tools.

The two-year old PayitGreen has also registered its logo, which it makes available to members for exclusive use.

PNC's Big Green Wall

PNC has finished the largest green in wall in North America at its office building in downtown Pittsburgh. The south-facing, soil-based wall's nearly 2,400 square feet and includes regional plants grown into living art. The wall has more than 600 panels, with 24 plants in 2X2 square foot spaces, each of which is expected to offset the carbon footprint of one person. The garden will help cool the 30-story building, the are behind the wall's expected to be 25 percent cooler than ambient temperatures.

The wall's a product of Green Living Technologies, and was designed by Kari Katzander of Mingo Design. PNC, which has a number of LEED-certified structures, has 64 "green" branches and two office buildings, with another 20 branches and two office buildings under construction.
