Pennsylvania's Lancaster Bank names CEO as chairman.

John E. Stefan, president and chief executive officer of Sterling Financial Corp., and its principal subsidiary, Bank of Lancaster County, Lancaster, Pa., has been named to the additional post of chairman of the board.

Mr. Stefan succeeds John E. Burkholder, a partner of Burkholder's Quality Cars, who will remain on the board as vice chairman. Mr. Burkholder has served as chairman since 1988.

Mr. Stefan joined Bank of Lancaster in 1979 as president and chief executive. In addition to his present duties, he will head the board of directors and provide leadership at the corporate level as chairman.
