PNC Bank and Charter One Bank have each named new regional presidents for Illinois.
Scott Swanson will join the PNC Financial Services Group (PNC) subsidiary from Charter One Bank and its parent, RBS Citizens, for which he served as president for Illinois and Michigan, PNC announced on Wednesday. Swanson succeeds Joe Gregoire as PNC's regional president for Illinois. Gregoire was promoted to state chairman for Illinois banking in July.
Swanson joined Charter One as Illinois president in 2007, after 17 years with JPMorgan Chase (JPM) and its predecessors, including 16 years in commercial banking. He had assumed responsibility for Charter One's operations in Michigan on July 1, following
Charter One, meanwhile, quickly filled Swanson's former role. On Wednesday, the bank announced that Marc Paulhus was named Illinois president of Charter One and RBS Citizens. Paulhus had been president of RBS Citizens' asset finance group since 2008 and joined the bank in 2003.
Charter One expects to name a new president for its Michigan operations soon, a company spokesman told American Banker.
Charter One Bank, which operates in Illinois, Michigan and Ohio, is a division of the $107 billion-asset RBS Citizens, which is based in providence, R.I. Of Charter One's 340 branches, 104 are in Illinois.
