Premara Financial in N.C. Hires New Chief

Premara Financial in Charlotte, N.C., has a new chief executive.

David Barksdale will also become the $250 million-asset company's president, according to a report by the Charlotte Business Journal. Barksdale, who had been the chief strategy officer at NewBridge Bank in Greensboro, N.C., succeeds Caryn Johnson, who became interim president after founder John Kreighbaum abruptly left Premara in November.

Johnson returned to her prior role as chief operating officer.

Barksdale had been instrumental in handling acquisitions at NewBridge, including its recent agreement to buy Premier Commercial Bank in Greensboro. That deal is on pace to close next month.

Premara has seven branches that operate under three brands: Carolina Premier Bank, Premara Bank and Urban League Bank.
