Boston's Putnam Investments has agreed with Taiwan-based Cathay Securities Investment Consulting, a subsidiary of Cathay Financial Holdings Co., to offer its mutual funds in Taiwan.
Cathay Securities is to act as "master agent," distributing 12 of the Dublin-based Putnam World Trust II mutual funds to both retail and institutional investors in Taiwan. Additional funds may eventually be offered.
Putnam World Trust II funds are available in different investment strategies, including U.S. equity, global equity, sector-specific, and fixed-income.
Putnam, which announced the agreement last week, had $188 billion of assets under management at March 31.
In January, Montreal's Power Financial Corp. announced an agreement to buy Putnam from Marsh & McLennan Cos. for $3.9 billion.
