Republic unit to buy SafraBank of Miami.

NEW YORK - Republic New York Corp. said its thrift subsidiary, Manhattan Savings Bank, will acquire SafraBank of Miami for $30 million.

The international financier Edmond Safra owns SafraBank's parent, Safracorp, as well as 29% of Republic New York, which has $33.4 billion in assets. . The offices of SafraBank, with $286.5 million in assets, would become branches of Manhattan Savings.
