Royal Bancshares' 3Q Loss Shrank

Royal Bancshares of Pennsylvania Inc. in Narberth said Monday that it narrowed its third-quarter loss by 36% compared with a year earlier.

The parent of Royal Bank America and Royal Asian Bank had a loss of $2.8 million. Royal said its loan-loss provision decreased from the third quarter of 2009.

However, the $1.1 billion-asset company also had a $1.7 million increase in its impairment of real estate owned through equity investments and another $830,000 in impairment for other real estate owned.
