Salomon Hires Syndication Veteran

Salomon Brothers Inc. has added another former Chase Manhattan Corp. banker to its growing loan syndication team.

Nazan Clohesy, a 12-year veteran of the bank loan marketplace, will be responsible for Salomon's bank loan sales activities.

"We are delighted to add Nazan to our bank loan team," said Randolph Barker, managing director and co-head of global debt capital markets at Salomon Brothers.

"Her seasoned perspective on this marketplace will be a valuable asset to us as we develop our bank loan effort," he said.

"This business is an ideal extension of our leveraged finance franchise," Mr. Barker said.

Ms. Clohesy will report to Richard Ivers, a managing director who recently joined the firm from CS First Boston, where he originated and structured bank loans for buyout firms.

The group also includes managing director Mavis Taintor, a Chase Manhattan veteran, and vice president Townsend Weekes, formerly of Citibank.

Ms. Taintor and Ms. Clohesy worked together at Chemical (now a part of Chase) for the past seven years.

"Mavis and Nazan were a real good team, responsible for a lot of the noninvestment grade transactions that Chemical and Chase did," said Mr. Ivers. "We're very happy to have her."
