Spain's Banco Santander SA has decided to merge its asset management and global private banking divisions and is naming Javier Marin to head the new unit.
Marin is the head of private banking at Santander, the company said Tuesday.
Joan David Grima, the head of asset management, has decided to retire, according to Spain's largest bank by assets.
The top five banks and thrifts have combined total assets of nearly $13 trillion.
