French payment terminal maker Ingenico SA struck a deal with a distributor of point of sale equipment that will help it expand the availability of its products in the United States.
ScanSource Inc., of Greenville, S.C., will distribute Ingenico's devices through its reseller network under a joint partnership, helping Ingenico speed up the amount of time it takes to get its products into the multi-lane retail market. The partnership is not exclusive, the companies said in a press release on Tuesday.
In addition to co-marketing its signature and PIN terminals, Ingenico will also provide product and software training to ScanSource sales and technical support teams.
Thierry Denis, the president of Ingenico North America, said in a press release that the U.S. market for point of sale devices is "complex."
The partnership with ScanSource will help it "provide an effective solution for resellers."
For ScanSource, the partnership will help it "round out our payment solutions offering, enabling resellers to offer a more complete POS solution, while also creating potential new revenue streams for them," Jeff Yelton, the president of ScanSource's point of sale and barcode business.
