Scotiabank Group added three senior executives it said would accelerate the growth of the Toronto company's asset management business.
Its wealth management unit hired John Varao to be the president, chief executive officer, and chief investment officer of Scotia Cassels Investment Counsel; Shane Jones to be the managing director of Canadian equities and a senior portfolio manager of Scotia Cassels; and John Kellett to be a senior adviser for mutual fund business development.
Mr. Varao joins Scotiabank with 16 years of asset management experience, Mr. Jones with 20 years' experience in the investment business, and Mr. Kellett with 37 years of experience.
Scotia Cassels, also based in Toronto, has $25 billion of assets under management.
