Scottrade Inc. of St. Louis announced Tuesday that it will open a branch office in Manchester, Conn., on April 2.

The online brokerage firm said it wanted a branch that would be more accessible for customers on the east side of the Connecticut River. The Manchester branch is the first of six Scottrade branch offices scheduled to open nationally in April. The others will be in Richmond, Va.; West Chester, Ohio; Miami; Grandville, Mich.; and Port Charlotte, Fla.
Scottrade's 291 branches include four Connecticut ones, in West Hartford, Stamford, New Haven, and Fairfield.
