Scottrade to Add Office in California Push

Scottrade, a St. Louis online investment firm, has announced that it plans to open a branch in Murrieta, Calif.

The company said Monday that it would open the office Aug. 27.

Scottrade is an online discount brokerage firm that does not give investment advice but, through its branch offices, makes brokers available to answer account-related questions, provide customer service, and offer tutorials on the company's trading services.

The discount brokerage has 44 other branch offices in California, including sites in Riverside and Laguna Hills, and it said it plans to continue expanding in the state. Additional offices planned this year include facilities in Pleasanton, Chula Vista, and Bakersfield. The company puts a licensed branch manager, plus additional brokers and assistants, in each office.
