ServisFirst Expands in Alabama After Hiring Commercial Bankers

ServisFirst Bank has expanded into Mobile, Ala., after hiring two commercial bankers to run a branch.

The $2.6 billion-asset Birmingham, Ala., bank said Thursday that it hired  Alex Arendall and Jay Weber as senior vice presidents. Arendall was previously a vice president and relationship manager at Regions Financial’s Regions Bank. Weber was a senior commercial business banker at Hancock Holding’s Hancock Bank of Alabama.

“We are excited about the opportunity to open ServisFirst Bank in Mobile’s diversified business environment,” Tom Broughton, ServisFirst’s president and chief executive, said in the release. “Our team of highly qualified banking professionals will offer the Mobile area a new and higher level of banking.”

Commercial and industrial loans at ServisFirst grew 38% at June 30 from a year earlier, to $814.1 million. C&I loans made up 40% of the bank’s $2 billion loan portfolio.

ServisFirst announced in June that it had expanded its correspondent banking business into Tennessee and Georgia (http://www.americanbanker.com/people/servisfirst-correspondent-banking-1050009-1.html). The bank now has 10 branches in Alabama and an office in Pensacola, Fla.
